It’s a digital innovation lab for Encrypt which focuses on developing and designing free open source digital security tools.  The lab believes that everyone especially human rights defenders around the world deserve tools that respect their need for security, privacy and transparency in order to communicate and share data.

The lab works closely with open source tool developers to provide feedback on tools they have developed in order to meet the needs of the community in which Encrypt operates.

Encrypt lab will also design visual tutorials on how to install and use the free open source tools for HRDs.

The lab is an initiative of Encrypt Uganda which focuses on developing open source tools and software for human rights defenders. The lab also undertakes to analyse and find difficulties within the open source tools that might stop human rights defenders from using and/or adopting them. We are devoted to improving usability of open source tools amongst human rights defenders.
